Meet our 2024-2025 grant recipients!
We are thrilled to announce CEF funded 91 innovative teacher grant requests for a total of $223,141.03 this year. Every request we received was brilliant, and our committee had some tough decisions to make! All schools received grants from CEF that will have a lasting impact for years to come. We love highlighting specific grants on our blog throughout the year, but wanted to give a brief glance into grants being awarded to our local teachers.Â
Bailey Station Elementary
Bailey Station students and teachers will receive many grant materials, but nearly every student will benefit from groovy tools to support music education. A new Xylosynth, a MIDI controller instrument, pedals, an extra power supply and replacement keypads will strengthen music lessons across grades and classrooms.Â
Collierville Elementary
The entire school community at Collierville Elementary can now enjoy two outdoor tents for essential shaded, weather-protected spaces. The tents will be great for outdoor learning, school events and extracurricular activities. This will be especially useful in the hot months toward the beginning of the school year.
Crosswind Elementary
Crosswind is now the owner of a 72 foam ball set to be used for PE games, school events, Special Olympics and Field Day. We also granted the school a set of juggling scarves. These scarves can also be used for dance, tagging games and, of course, juggling.Â
Schilling Farms Elementary
Twelve building stations are now available at Schilling Farms Elementary, where students can creatively showcase their stacking and design skills. Schilling Farms was also granted useful technology tools like a Promethean Board and reusable magnetic sticky notes called VersaNotes.
Sycamore Elementary
Sycamore is getting various district-approved print books through partnerships with counselors, special education experts and more. These materials will support students in their reading journey while teaching them about the different physical and mental abilities that exist among their peers. Axolotl-themed fidget toys were also granted. These materials have been found to promote a sense of belonging, improve self-esteem, increase peer acceptance and decrease bullying, according to the Science of Kindness.
Tara Oaks Elementary
The Tara Oaks Elementary library's nonfiction science book collection is getting a significant upgrade! The library will receive new titles that are current, engaging and age-appropriate for the students. These updated materials will spark curiosity in the young readers and inspire them to dig deeper into the subjects they read about.Â
Collierville Middle
Collierville Middle is getting a new walking track! Teachers requested a safe area for students to walk, jog or run free from holes, mud and weather issues. All students will have access to an area where they can challenge themselves and get their heart rate within the American Heart Association’s healthy heart zone.
West Collierville Middle School
West Collierville Middle School is building on a 2023-24 grant that features MergeCubes, an augmented reality tool that lets students hold 3D materials. This year, the school is receiving another year-long subscription to the program, which provides students with hands-on learning through augmented reality and enhances their comprehension and retention of complex STEM concepts.
Collierville High School
Art students at Collierville High School can professionally photograph their masterpieces with light box equipment. These boxes show off every detail of their project by lighting up each angle. CHS will also have new gym equipment like volleyball nets, storage carts for materials and different balls needed for PE.Â
